Can anyone recommend a good heavyweight combo rug that doesn't rub your horse's mane out? I currently use a Rambo and for the second winter running my TB has half a mane. Last spring I had to practically hog her so it could grow back evenly. Considering giving up the neck rugs altogether but she's clipped and currently spends about 8 hours out a day.

I'll agree with the Fal too! I have used other makes but they get put aside for the Fal on a regular basis - just as well it dries so quiickly, don't know why I bother buying anything else!

Where my rug is cleaned, they sewed a section of satin across where the neck/rug meet now my Rambo doesn't rub at all.

Much cheaper than a new rug.

Try one of the premier equine rugs they are excellent. On my horses previous rug it use to wear so I supplmented this with a neck guard (cost about a tenner) bottom line is get a rug that fits

Possibly her Rambo is a bit small, she's about 15.3/16 h and it's a 6ft rug but doesn't seem as generous as her Weatherbeetas. Where are the best places to buy mail order any of the rugs mentioned? I have tried Frogpool Manor but they are out of stuck on the particular FAL rug I asked for.

I got my Fal from www.allthebestrugs.com they are fairly decently priced from there. I found my Rhino came up small on my horse, she is usually ok with a 6'6" but had to have a 6'9" Rhino, which is now a bit droopy round her bottom! They do say to get a Fal a size down, but my horse has a 6'3" Fal and really needs a 6'6". She is a strange shape though!
