Comdt Gerry Flynn of the Irish Army Equitation School has announced his retirement from competition...below is Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) Press Release:
COMDT. GERRY FLYNN - STATEMENT FROM HORSE SPORT IRELAND
HORSE Sport Ireland (HSI) learned today (Monday) of the resignation
of show jumping rider Comdt. Gerry Flynn from the Army Equitation
School in Dublin.
HSI Chief Executive Damian McDonald said this evening: <<We were very
saddened to hear that Gerry Flynn is retiring from international
competition, especially after such a long and illustrious career in
show jumping. Gerry was a valued member of the Irish team, and also
distinguished himself in individual competitions throughout the world.
<< His performances in 2007 were particularly notable, and he and the
Minister for Defence's horse <Mo Chroi> made a major contribution
to the successful Irish campaign to regain its place in the FEI
Samsung Super League. We wish Gerry the very best in his new career
in coaching management, and hope that he will be as successful in
this field as he was in international competition for Ireland.>>
He had a superb final season winning four international grands prix with Mo Chroi!!
Also won the Irish International Rider of The Year Award for 07.
