We have had our pups for 3 weeks now and so far so good - until yesterday!
I have been letting the pups have a free rein wandering around what I thought was a secure yard. Popped into the garden to mow the lawn, and on my return could only find one of the pups. Looked round all their favourite play areas and even checked if he had sneaked into the house, but still couldn't find him. I tried not too panic so called and called - and then heard an umistakable whine!
He had slipped under the fence into the shetland ponies paddock and was in the process of being swung round by the scruff of his neck!!
Fortunatley no harm was done, although he was a little subdued for a few hours, and have just spent the whole morning blocking up yet more gaps in the fencing that I never thought existed!
Loving having them but will sleep better at night once they have returned to the kennels!
Hope you are all having as much 'fun' with yours.

That did make me laugh!! I remember coming home from being out all morning 3 summer's ago to see one of the hound pups sitting on the drive with a big empty dog food can stuck on his head and he was waving his head around like Stevie Wonder does when he plays the piano. It was so entertaining I had to take photos before taking it off!! They'd been going through the bins and he'd obviously put his head right in it, pushed down to get the leftovers from the bottom and got it well and truly stuck. It was hilarious - I had tears pouring down my face...!

Reminds me of a morning many years ago when I was doing a TV interview at the Essex kennels. We were JUST about to start the interview when I saw out of the corner of my eye a hunter in the field adjoining the whelps pen had put his head over and picked one up! He had it by the scruff of the back and was gently tossing his head up and down - pup in mouth. EEEK - I thought - that's going to be shown on morning television!! So I threw a coughing fit and managed to signal the huntsman - and he rushed to rescue pup before the cameraman saw it and it made an impromptu tv appearance!
