comfortable canter

how can i get my ponys canter to be more comfortable any ideas appreciated!!?? today i rode my friends horse and her canter was amazing - really comfortable no wonder she can do 20 miles with ease, just seemed to bounce along and was just like sitting in an armchair - mine on the other hand (who is of the same bredding as my friends' only a little heavier) is very uncomfortable, hard work even though she is fairly forward going but i dont seem able to sit to her.

My horses canter is horrible if she isn't working properly, but if she drops and softens its lovely. Schooling, schooling and more schooling I suspect! I don't know any specific exercises, though, but I'm sure someone will soon be along who does!

To be honest I don't think that you can do anything about it, my horse has a very short stride and short chunky legs and has a really bouncy canter, they are what they are I think you'll find.

what breeding is your horse i cant see from pics? Kate1? Its really weird the horse i rode this mornign was bouncy but, lush and i dont actually think mine is bouncy Ooohhh its so hard to explain!!!! xxx

My boy has a very bouncy canter but you get used to it.

As I can't get mine to canter faster than a walk, I wouldn't dream of suggesting ways to improve your horse, perhaps, as someone said, it's just something you will have to adjust to.
