just interested in hearing others opinions !!!
 
On the negative side:
- the saddle isn't doing the rider any good, they're sat right at the back of it
- don't like seeing horses heads held in, neck is very overbent
On the plus side:
-horse looks a nice sort
- rider would look ok in a better fitting saddle.
Realise its just a moment in time but I really want to tell the rider to sit up straight & lift their hands up. I'd also say it would be quite easy to get a more complementary picture of them both
 
Nice sort. Hollow backed as anything and 'broken necked' - looks exactly like a 128JA I had to reschool who was broken in and schooled in some sort of contraption which tied his head to his girth :rolleyes: With time and work he changed shape dramatically :)
 
thanks for the reply on over bent ... i asked because this horse is a 4 year old and has not long been broken...his owner has stressed to me how perfect he is because he carries himself so well... this horse carries his head like this in every gait and really struggles in canter, i asked for opinions as im currently working my 4 year old in a bungie(fredericks style) only for lunging...this method was used for breaking this horse and im getting slightly worried as i dnt want my filly to end up like this!! would this be over shortening of the bungie maybe ?? oh and pic is on you tube publically so i dnt think i need permission to use it and owners are so proud i dnt think theyd mind !

I would bet money that because the owner feels he is 'light in the hand' they are convinced he is working correctly. He isn't, he needs to learn to take the contact forward.. I'd also bet that his hind legs are trailing out the back by quite some way!

Is your horse seeking a contact? Does she work 'over' and 'through' her back? Does she track up? :)

pics of my filly in bunge and ridden ...im forever being told that she needs to be more tucked in etc...and the bungie needs to be shorter...me i dnt agree shes not rounded but she works forward and shes only 4 so we have time to get an outline... please just reassure me im not going mad and that working forward etc will encourage her outline not force her to be in one !

A much more harmonious set of pictures :) Lovely, lovely!

It takes a minimum of a year to form a correctly muscled topline. No quick fixes, unless you want to risk the potential long term soundness of your horse.

Carry on exactly as you are ;) Oh, but look up, and look proud, you should be, it looks like you are 'making' a lovely youngster there :p

you are sooo right yes.... and well i have posted some pics of my girl...not great ones but itl give you an idea of how shes going and wether i should ditch the gadgets !

if the owners are proud the horse carries itself like that then i strongly recommend you remember an urgent previous engagement every time they kindly offer you some of their wisdom

i'm sure they're ecstatic at a horse that 'goes so well on the bit'

... don't start me on that.....

rhino - fully agree with your comments

just one additional comment on your ridden photo
remember to bend your elbows (ie don't ride with straight arms) and keep your elbows lightly touching your ribs
this will allow you to feel and respond to the contact much better

no - you're not the one barking up the wrong tree

thanks so much for the replies...its my daughter riding the youngster and it was only the 5th time shed sat on her and the first time with no lunge line on lol...i think she was nervous but i really am pleased i asked you all as i was really thinking i was doing something wrong, first time ive ever broken my own, luckily shes an absolute diamond :) and im definatley not going to worry about her head for a while yet..x and i dont think ill ditch the bungie just yet as filly seems to lunge really well in it !
 
I was trying to give the picture benefit of the doubt, but if its 4 & they think that's correct then they shouldn't be anywhere near a horse. By comparison yours looks lovely. At 4 as said already, long & low is what you want. Next time they offer you advice tell them its they, or more their horse, that needs help.
