Hi, I have a stressy horse which is nearing the end of treatment with Gastroguard and would like to know what affordable supplements you have had success with please? His behaviour before treating for ulcers was not good and I really don't want to go back there. I don't really need advice on management, he has as much turnout as I can manage and is on a high fibre low starch diet, with oil, alfalfa etc he does have ad-lib haylage but it isn't very rich. He has charcoal and brewers yeast in his evening feed now as he is gassy and was prone to loose droppings but these have firmed up. He is also on Equifeast cool, calm and collected which has helped to relax him but I'm feeling quite terrified of finishing the Gastroguard and the best thing to get him onto. There are so many things on the market but would really like some opinions before I she'll out more money. Thanks in advance

I did a lot of research and decided on KER Rite Track which you can get from Saracens. It's the only supplement recommended by the vet who scoped my horse and she said she's not normally a supplement person. It contains EquiShure for the hind gut and if you were on a tight budget you can buy EquiShure separately.

I give my mare Aloe Vera juice, following a tip on here. She hasn't been diagnosed with ulcers but is prone to colic, was very grumpy and extremely touchy in the girth area. She is much more settled now but woe betide any-one who approaches her in the wrong way if we run out of AV. In fact she is so bad that I now make sure that we NEVER run out, when we were snowed in last winter I gave her AV tablets that I happened to have in the bathroom cabinet.

Ah yes I also feed alfalfa pellets and aloe vera juice.

Mine has the following:
Ad lib steamed hay (grass free paddock)
1/2 mug alfalfa pellets
1/2 mug fast fibre
1/2 mug micronised linseed
Rite track
Forage plus winter balancer
Aloe vera juice

Thanks all, I will look at some of these options. he already has soaked alfalfa pellets twice a day as well as Dengie Happy Tummy and fast fibre, once a day brewers yeast, linseed, charcoal and oil and is still on 1/3 tube of gastro guard a day, he is a lot more rideable but still fidgety and a bit panicky when being girthed. This is almost getting worse than it was before we treated the ulcers. For those that feed Aloe Vera, in what form, quantities and where is best place to get it please?
