community horse patrols in watford

hi, my name is chris williams. i am a firefighter with herts fire and rescue and we run a community horse patrol scheme in st albans which utilises local riders for arson patrols etc. it is a voluntary scheme. after the success of st albans we are starting up the scheme in watford and three rivers. we are looking for some happy hackers who might be interested in helping get the scheme stated in the following areas. tolpits lane, rousbarn lane and abbots langley. if you would be interested in finding out more, please message me and we can have a chat.

I'm not near St Albans unfortunately but if you hear of any similar schemes going in the Broxbourne / Hoddesdon area I would be interested as we definitely need some kind of patrol in our area.

As an ex st Albans peep I have friends involved in the police scheme (not sure if its the same) and it is great!! Helps to reduce crime and quickly deal with things like fly tipping etc.

What a pity our local police force are not sufficiently enlightened to do this......... I've always maintained that horsey people see things/notice things, that other people don't necessarily. Plus being higher up you can see what walkers and cyclists might not.

FFS - wake up local police! You need us.

It is a good idea, I out hacking rang up from pony back and told a local hospital that their pay and display machines were on a bridle way before they had noticed they were gone!!!

Although i'm not in the Watford area we would love this down the road in the Dacorum area, Berkhamsed, Tring and surrounding. I read something about it in a local magazine last year but have heard nothing more in this area, i think it was linked to the police. Would be more than willing to keep an eye on things while hacking and reporting it.
