I am looking for recommendations for a compact horsebox that won't break the bank :o

One that is big enough to carry my horse a 16.2hh warmblood, myself, my husband and all equipment for a show. With some living in, maybe enough for a one night stay over?

I want it to be solid enough build to be safe also, not one of these flimsy things that are made light and flimsy just so they can carry more weight.

I can drive a 7.5 tonne on my licence and don't mind one so big as long as compact and has power steering.

Any warnings of makes of vehicles to stay away from and reasons why or recommendations for vehicle makes to look out for would be greatly appreciated :-)

Thank you.:D

My brief was pretty much as yours and I went for a short wheel base Daf (mines ancient so its the Roadrunner), only 20ft end to end and it's my first lorry and feels manageable. Mine has sink, hob, big enough luton over cab to sleep and external tack locker/water locker/bucket space. Daf's are great but as with all older lorries check for rust, good floors, good ramp, good service history and a decent amount of plating left! I avoided Iveco's as in my budget was told they would have too much rust and dodge's due to lack of parts although I don't know how much truth there is in this..

Good luck, it took me a while to find it and a couple of failed inspections but I love my lorry even if it does need nursing by my mechanic occasionally!

I've not got one myself but I've done a lot of research for when I'm in a position to get one (no time soon unfortunately). I would be after a very similar thing to you and I think I would go for a Pepper Harrow 5.5T. They seem to have a good reputation, look lovely and aren't too massive.
