My boy has now followed me down as I've moved away so my mum is trying to find a companion for her mare back at home. I would have thought it would be really easy.
Does anyone have any ideas as to where to look please?
We've tried Blue Cross, Redwings, RSPCA and ILPH who are last on the list with a visit in 2 weeks time.
Plus we're scanning horseandhound, horsedeals, equineadverts, horsemart and horsequest daily.
But so far nothing suitable at all!
All we want is a little pony mare to keep my mums mare company and occasionally do school vists (her mare is now going to be rideable which is why we're not looking for another riding horse anymore) so I would have thought their would be hundreds of ponies who either can't be ridden or need a quieter life, so are we looking in the wrong place?!
My mums mare has 4 weeks left of being on rehab livery so we need to find something soon but seem to be hitting a brick wall!

(and no, I'm not trying to advertise- just ask if there's anywhere else or anywhere in particular we should be looking!)

keep asking your mates. I got a companion pony 2 years ago within 24hrs. She was dellivered 4 hours after seeing her. You will find one,but be prepared to put up with oldies, ailments etc. Don't give up hope.

Oh by the way....my companion pony's owner has gone awol now,so be prepared for that!!

We don't mind oldies or 'broken' ponies (within reason, so long as it's manageable) in fact an oldie would probably be preferable. Plus we've got everyone we know keeping their ears open- it would be a permament home anyway so either a token amount for purchase or long term loan. But finding nothing :o Bit scarey about your ponies owner disappearing mind you!

Are you after a pony or would you consider something bigger? I know of a few retired (unridable due to injuries) racehorses who need homes, all well mannered, live out and only need feed and a rug in winter. Pm me if your interested :)

You could have mine, but he's not a pony, not a TB either. Lives out, needs feeding and rugging in winter, lovely manners, can be lightly ridden.

PM if you're interested.

Funnily enough I have just being looking at companions for loan on WHW website. You say they are last on your list, does that mean you don't want to go to them, because they seem to have a lot of little ponies looking for homes, and the adoption fee is very reasonable, £50 in most cases. I had a companion from them in the past and the support is very good, even down to offering to hold my old girl to be pts when she came to the end of her days.:(

What about offering free/cheap grass livery to a suitable pony? You could advertise in the local tack shops etc.

You could put in a call to your local PC and riding schools see if they know of any much loved family ponies needing a retirement home or in the case of a riding school have an oldie/injured pony needing a retirement home.

Definately Preloved-there was an older 12.2 on there in Earl Shilton recently...would post a wanted ad.

I may possibly have a welsh Sec A available, had her 15 years and wont sell but consider loaning to a very good home, she loves kids, typical welsh but is laminitic on some grazing, not broken to ride but probably could be, shes been a career companion.

It would have to be a really good home though, as I really dont want to let her go. PM me if interested. :)

Chaps I suggest you PM dordy, she has just posted about needing a companion home for her mare - could be a perfect solution for two HHOers!!!!

I am surprised that your not having any luck, so many broken ones out there needing a companion home.
I have to say I just love your siggy, fantastic pics, particularly loving your cat :D
