So my so called 'best friend' did a runner with her horses last week oweing the 85 year old farmer 8 months livery money:mad: He has a heart of gold and bent over backwards for her in the 3 years she was there. The set up is 2 fields and 2 massive stone barns the horses can go in and out of as they please.

My mare has now been left on her own and was pretty upset to begin with but now just seems very quiet. She is not in work and has 2 horses in the field next to her durig the day but they are stabled nearby at night.

I'm torn between geting a friend for her. She was kept alone before I had her, but I feel bad that she doesn't have company overnight or in with her anymore. What would you do?

I would spread the word amongst friends as there is usually always someone looking for grass livery for a youngster or older retired horse and that way you dont have the responsibility of a second horse. If this doesnt work I would then look into getting a companion on loan or purchasing a small pony.

Ditto above.

Also if you have someone else there you can help each other out and share chores if you want.

I think i'd deffo get some company for your mare somehow.

Thankyou - was thinking along the lines of rescue loan although it is good grazing so worried about having to resrict native type come the spring  Hmmm things to think about!
