Just looking at a lo-cal balancer vs. a general supplement and surprised at how different the vit/min amounts are in them. I knew that there would be some differences, but didn't expect this much - can anyone explain this?

For instance:

Zinc:
Balancer - 450mg/kg
Supplement - 6000mg/kg

Maganese:
Balancer - 240mg/kg
Supplement - 2000mg/kg

Vitamin A:
Balancer - 44,000 IU
Supplement - 300,000 IU

Copper:
Balancer - 225mg/kg
Supplement - 150mg/kg

Confused

Really when you boil it down balancers are supplements with some protein added.
It's not difficult to understand why supplements contain less per kilo than a balancers as you will feed less wieght of a supplement than a balancer .
What you really need to know is not how much per kilo but how much per recommended daily amount for the size and work your horse is doing.
Then you can compare.
There are big differences between different balancers and different supplements you need to find the right one for your situation.

Yeah that's right. They are more concentrated so will have more mg to each kg.

Thank you for pointing out something that's very obvious! :D

If you feed 500g of balancer per day and 50g of supplement, your horse will get this:

Zinc:
Balancer - 225mg
Supplement - 300mg

Maganese:
Balancer - 120mg
Supplement - 100mg

Vitamin A:
Balancer - 22,000 IU
Supplement - 15,000 IU

Copper:
Balancer - 112mg
Supplement - 7.5mg

As long as my Friday afternoon maths is correct. :p
