Just out of interest to see how many of you are competing in dressage and have passed the age of 40!! I may have an idea but not telling yet until I find out how many of you there are out there and how much you want to get out of dressage!!

Yup!

I'm 26 days off 60 and do both unafilliated and some BD, will go as far as I can. I still SJ as well.

Yup, im well into my 40s and only discovered dressage a few years ago after losing my nerve jumping.

I did some 'dream building' at Badminton and tried on a top hat n tails in the hope I can get to Adv Med before me lungs give out altogether

Intend to go as far as I can with the hysterical one.

I am nearer 50 than 40 and have a young horse - just starting the dressage all over again. Love it - hope to affiliate by end of year. Inspiration comes from friend who is 70 and still doing BE and BD. I just don't look in the mirror too much and then i feel a lot younger......

Thank you everyone who posted on here. I'm fast heading towards 40 & intend to bsja & bd for as long as I'm physically able, & it's nice to know that some of you are already blazing the trail for me to follow.

Rambo, sorry, anyone can join in but specified dressage because I think we should get BD to do something for the "over 40" brigade!! ie. training, like the BYRDS etc!!! Jemayni, I am young at heart!!! Te he!!

I'm well past 40 and still BE, BSJA & occasionally BD. Shall get more serious about BD when I'm too fragile to leave the ground - in about 20 yrs I should think!

I'm 41 this year and affiliated Will last Dec'. Am looking for a younger horse now that will take me further, ambition is to be wearing top hat and tails (ie advanced) by the time I turn 50!!

Yep count me in, currently do BD and hoping to get a youngster this year to start all over again with!!

*I will get my top hot and tails*

This is excellent.. there are soooooo many of us over 40 but not over the hill... I am sure many of you would like to have lessons/instruction like the BYRDS do, say for each region....then have a true MASTERS or MISTRESSES!!! event... or both if there are males out there too over 40!!! Thoughts?????

I think we should lobby BD, s'pose we'll have to let the fellas have a go too.

We could be called C.R.U.S.T.Y.S, I just haven't thought of what the letters would stand for yet, too p***d!

I realised that a while after I had posted. But GD, that is also the price of being over 40, the brain cells diminish. I can normally get away with it cos of my age

Actually, that's interesting point. The BSJA do run Veterans classes....i take it BD don't offer anything like that ?

I'm over 60 and still compete Aff Dress with an aged 'family' horse. I dont like to rely on my memory for the tests and need a caller - and moral support - and I am certainly about 30 years older than anyone I have competed against - but so what! I dont think they are laughing behind their hands - particularly when I am often placed above them! A veteran class would be really good fun - or maybe extra marks if we manage without a caller
