hi there.

i was wondering if i could borrow your knowledge!?
how much doe it cost - in your area for competition livery - say on the basis of the horse being kept in full livery, ridden etc and taken to shows and competed on your behalf?

just trying to see what prices are reasonable?!

thanks for reading

I think it depends on who and what level and reasons the person is taking competition livery.

For example I have worked for 2 compettion riders:

1. Professional SJ'er, had 3 livery horses, each were schooled and competed and treated as if one of his own. If owner wanted to compete then that was fine, I would groom for owner and SJ'er would be there to help warm in at competitions.
Cost for this was £350 per week.

2. Amateur event rider competing at advanced level. Didn't have funds to buy and keep her own horses running. Had a compettion livery (advanced/3*) and charged £100 per week ... equivalent in the area of just basic livery.

My friend has an eventer with a professional rider and pays circa £175 per week.

This does not include entry fees or the transport of horse to events - both of which are extra costs. As are shoeing, worming, vets fees etc.

I think this is very varied depending on the experience of the person offering competition livery. It can be anything from £75 per week to £250 per week plus expenses.

Are you offering competition livery or looking for competition livery?

I paid £125/week and £20 per show including transport. that was for SJ. We had a horse with an Olympic eventer and that was £125/week as well plus extras
