Competition routine - walking the course?

Do you warm up before walking the course, or do you warm up, put horse back in trailer/get someone to hold horse, while walking the course?
Just thinking, as in the future, when we start going to going out places, should i walk the course first, and leave in trailer, or walk it after warming up, then get mum to hold him, or put back in trailer?
have done it before, but kinda need to re-think what we are doing, as got in a bit of a muddle last time to say the least

It depends at what number you are jumping at. If you are going in the first few rounds then you'll need to warm your horse up first. If it's a large class & you're late in that class then obviously you can walk the course first & warm up later. You just have to modify your approach to each competition depending on circumstances.

Showjumping or XC?
Guessing Sjing. It depends where you are in the class. I usually at small Unaff events I warm up then mum or dad holds major walk the course jump back on and just walk him round till my round but we usuall get there early so i'm near the beginnig of the class.! If you are towards the end you can walk it then warm up
 
I always walk the course first, leaving the my horse in the trailer even if it means I have to get there very early. But thats because I can't have anyone hold her incase another horse gets too close, she will kick. And I don't like to put them back in after warming up.
 
Depends how big the class is - I hate to feel pressured into rushing my warm up.

Ideally I put my number down late enough to walk the course and watch the first few horses before I get my horse tacked up.
 
Depends on the class and where I am jumping in it. If theres a course walk happening when i'm there i do it otherwise I tend to watch a few go, then warm up, then watch the onen before then go in.

Bigger classes I always try to walk it though
