Scrubbing and cleaning my big hairy?? The competition was on an ash arena - by the time I got into the class he was black from the knee down!!

Still he was really good just needs a bit more oomph in his canters but his trot work was the best he'd ever done... Think I'm going to have to give him a bit more feed (he gets hifilite and nothing else atm!)

Onwards and upwards!

I feel your pain. We took hairy cob to dressage today and the weather quickly deteriorated into cold driving rain. The venue was indoors but the warm up was outside. He was already a mess as he did a massive green poo while travelling that he managed to squash all over his bum. I managed to remove that so that he was just a pale shade of yellow but then the rain started and his feathers got muddier and he looked like he'd just been dragged out of the field. To top it all we were all starving as no one took any money for the bacon butties and I got blamed by daughter for not being quick enough reading the test, we are currently not speaking. Ho hum why do I bother.

Oh no for both of you! Last show I went to, plaited and turned out to the best of my limited ability, in best tweed etc, did two euitation classes in a howling gail and tippling down rain. This gives not such a good look, and a horse who looks as if straightness belongs to another species. Also got nothing to eat as back up crew were all busy officiating, couldn't even get to go to the loo!

Ah ha, this is why you spray the legs with coat shine stuff - but not the oil based ones - so the dirt dosent stick ;)

That or boots :p

still, feel your pain - 2 years ago at dublin horse show, I didnt even bother washing his white socks (he has 3) as A) the warm up was very very wet sand and B) the dressage arena was mud...!
