Brief long story outlined here!

Had a physio out to check over horse. She basically watched me lunge/ride, then warmed up his back, started to work on his back and was giving him electric shocks. Just as one of those things that happens. She then said he was too tense to do work today.

I naively handed over the cash feeling slightly lulled into the too tense scenario, very foolish off me. I then realised after I had paid for a service she had not carried out. I would of been happy if she said for example Ill return next week free of charge to try again when he is calmer. ( May i add he was only a bit spooky not completely wireless)

I complained via email for her having not produced a service on his back. To which she stated the saddle was an issue and I needed a chiro, no mention of this at the time. I of course am happy to pay for her time/fuel however annoyed I paid for a service that was not obtained.

Where do i stand, if at all, at obtaining a partial refund?!

Is this person a member of any professional association? Because if so you could (and should IMO) take it up with them.

Basically........ if she's unqualified, then she shouldn't be giving horses electric shock treatment!!!:(

One would have expected that you would have been told what the treatment would have entailed beforehand; plus what sort of things you might have to do with the horse i.e. lunge/exercise to enable treatment to take place; also the timespan for treatment, intervals between treatment; plus any aftercare needed. Also you should have been given some idea of effectiveness of treatment. Plus of course, the approximate costs involved.

'Giving him electric shocks' what type of physio xoes this

One of ours does a normal course of treatment along with other types of therapies [laser etc], depending on what's needed. Can't remember the 'official' treatment name for it, but a few of the showjumpers on previous yard had it regularly. Very mild current pulses over various specific areas. :)

ahh sorry should have explained better, I mean shock as in yes static! Unsure whether it was instigated by the machine she used before hand or just a coincidence!

Not sure if she is part of a board I will go have a look now!

Mine used a tens machine on our pony. Didnt think it made much difference , used an osteo who was great and noticed much more about other areas .
