Ok, my boy has literally just gone out 24/7 and is currently fed when ridden. He is 'just' about the correct weight if a little over and so trying to fitten him up at the moment.
He is fed 300g Ultimate Balancer, handfull chaff and about 1 small watery just of sugar beet - think its about 1pint.
I have had him off mix since I got himback in January as they have a tendancy to make him really fizzy, but lately I have had to really push him to get him to move when ridden. Even in an open area he didnt take the usual opportunity when given the chance for a quick blast.
So I am trying to work out a feed that wont heat him up too much, will give him energy and that he can still get as a 'reward' so to speak after being ridden, and that wont pile the weight on. As this is his 1st week of being just at grass I am going to see how he is energy wise.
I have tried Calm and condition and Cool Mix and both just made him fizzy.
Someone suggested Baileys Lo Cal balancer - is it any good? Also we have a lack of Selenium in the soil up here so what feed stuff is a good source for that?
