Concealing bite marks for showing class

My 3yo gelding is a thug and enjoys playing with his mates in the field. Consequently he is covered in bite marks on either side of his neck. The problem is I planned to do a few inhand showing classes (first of which is in 2 weeks) this summer but his neck looks a mess (think patchwork quilt!). It is covered in random bald patches where the scabs have fallen off.

I only plan to take him for the experience so taking him away from his mates or rugging him from ears to tail in an attempt to stop him getting the bite marks isn't something I want to do. He isn't being bullied, it is just playing.

How can I make them look less obvious? I have seen the Champion Tails products. They make a coloured highlighter. Has anyone used this to conceal scars etc? Does it work or would I be wasting my money. Its a shame there are no war horse classes as he would certainly look the part!

You dont mention what colour he is. Supreme Products do a fab cover up spray i can really recommend.
If it's local showing, I have had the exact same thing.... and they never mentioned it and I still got reserve Champion... depends how bad it is though.

There is a product called Megatex (or something like that) which is good for getting hair to regrow quickly and I have also used cornucresine (the foot stuff, which I cannot spell at present due to not feeling very well!) to help coats to grow back. I have used a mixture of eye shadow and boot polish on a chestnut before now!

Megatek is not worth the money IMO!!

If they are on the neck you will probably make it look worse - I would probably leave well alone and depending on the level of show when I said good morning to the judge would also apologise for the bite marks with a comment about young boys playing a bit rough and just brass neck it (no pun intended:D)

Thanks for the ideas. He is bay. I will have a try with the Supreme Products spray at the weekend, then at least if I make him look worse I can wash it off. I have some Cornucresine so will try using some of that to see if I can accelerate the hair growth. Also a good idea to make light of it to the judge, hopefully she will just ignore it.
