Concord Cassie Shetland Pony Stolen TODAY in Shropshire

I was horrified when I heard about this theft as on Wednesday morning Cassie came up in a tack room morning coffee session on my yard. We were talking (as you do) about 'personality' dogs and horses, and as one of my team is a friend of Cassies owner - and knows the filly well - she came up. And 12 months later she was gone! I have shared the info to every FB Group I am a member of - and we also had lots of printed leaflets which I have had put up in local horse feed supplier, and staff have them on car windows. We're also going to put them on the gate of woodland opposite - used by bridlepath users, dog walkers and shooters. This filly is going to become too hot to handle - probably already is. I just hope the a*seholes who stole her have half a brain and attempt to get the generous reward for returning her PDQ - and in good condition!

How do you tell the difference between a Shetland pony starved for few hours and a non starved Shetland pony? Every Shetland pony I know would go mad for the kind of thing a distraught owner would offer, no matter how recently they ate anything else. There's no reason why she should have found water if she strayed. I think it's more likely she would have had no water if she strayed than if she had been stolen.

Any Shittie worth it's salt knows that ' kidnapped ' = treats and sympathy - ' dirty stop-out ' = the naughty paddock .

I think a lot of “stolen “ horses have gone on a jolly.

I only know of those taken in a relationship dispute or those who have strayed, in the last 10 or more years. It would be extremely unusual to steal a pony from a yard by a house at 3.30 in the afternoon. Did they just walk in and take her?

I'm having kittens about the number of pictures of a baby with their fingers and face inches from a very young pony's mouth on Facebook.

Definitely not gone for a stroll.

We do know she was taken in the boot of a 4x4 and the number plates had been removed.

She’s doing okay but was massively hungry (am aware they always are) but really thirsty too. Pretty sure she’s been kept inside in questionable conditions somewhere for a couple of days. She’s got a few minor scrapes and was a little nervous to start with but by this afternoon was being her usual sassy self and is enjoying the fuss ?

She was clipped out at the beginning of the summer because she’s is the huge ball off fluff and mane and was really really struggling in the heat so it was to make her more comfortable.

Her owner is over the moon to have her home and we are aware of how lucky we have been to have her returned after 2 days and that the power of social media and spending hours putting posters up obviously made her too hot to handle!

Yes, she was standing in the yard, all other horses in stables. ? another Shetland pony was almost stolen in May from very close by in the middle of the day too but they were disturbed by walkers who called the police.
