Concours d'elegance people

A lovely HHO member kindly lent me her gorgeous outfit to have have a go in earlier in the season. We got a 3rd and had the most wonderful day.

My question is , if I got my horse going in a side saddle could I show in a concours class in a habit?

A regular side saddle habit would be traditional turnout -just check if it’s a mixed class as sometimes they separate them or it’s exclusively dresses! I’ve won quite a few with this - just swop a safety for silk hat when required Dear Harry RIP ?

In Side Saddle classes you would usually show in a Traditional Habit as shown by D_D_E unless it is a specific "Costume Concour" class.

You can also usually ride Side Saddle in classes that aren't specifically for Side Saddle - just worth checking with the organiser when you enter

Yes it’s very important to carefully read the schedule and if necessary double check with the secretary as in the SS world, you do get the odd dress trying to get into the Concours d’elegance class which is strictly traditional habits of a dark hue - like my photos , whereas Costume concours d’elegance is the dress /coloured outfit/habit class! As per my green Victorian habit below - At regular shows, always check if SS allowed & respect the hat rules!

I remember some years back a lady used to ride side saddle in the Arab classes at the AHS shows she looked lovely ?

Wow, wow, wow!! The photos are stunning!!

Its a local show and the schedule says concours d'elegance, no description. Its the same show I previously competed at. In that class there was a young girl riding side saddle but in a concours outfit rather than habit. To be honest I don't mind where we came, would just love the photos!! Not even sure at this stage how my horse would take to SS but we may get the opportunity at the end of next week to give it a try!!

Keep your right calf pressed to the shoulder and your right shoulder back and you are extremely secure ?
