Hi All!

Just thought I'd share my first experience of a Concours class. Friends of mine have cobs and were thinking of showing classes to take part in other than cob classes and Concours popped up. Now none of us really know what the judge is looking for, we kinda had an idea of an elegant overall picture, the riders outfit complimenting both horse and rider and the horse being obedient to the rider.

Here are some pics I took, I've got to say I want to have a go now as they looked so fabulous!

Thanks for the comments! Beautiful aren't they?! It was lovely to see such a variety of outfits too ( not that I got any pics of the other competitors as I was only there for my friends)

also, did you watch the great british sewing bee? The lady who won she made a dress which i think was based on a concours style, the back of it had a curb chain on, most beautiful dress.

Lovely photos. You should speak to Deefa on here - I think she used to do a bit of concours and she always looked great. I went to Addington last year to do SS workers with mine and watched the Concours evening class - it was an eyeopener at the least!!

Was this at Hill House, Osgodby? If so they will be having more shows. It's proving very popular. They look stunning!

Wow! Really beautiful and not over the top.
They now have a concours d'elegance class at my local show ( Bedfordshire) which I think will become increasingly popular. Lovely to see!

I'm doing one of these at the weekend with my dartmoor but I have never even watched one before!

What is the protocol? Is it like a normal ridden class - walk, trot, canter then a trot and canter individual or is it just walk and trot? Not got a clue and would like a bit more of a heads up before I dive in lol!
