I got flattened by one of my horses nearly two weeks ago, banged my head, and I still have a headache, although I dont feel dizzy any more.
Can anyone give me some idea of how much longer I can expect to have this flaming headache - its beginning to drive me mad!

I think you should go to your doctor and get it checked out asap, honestly. they take concussion very seriously (unlike riders!), as it is a very very mild form of damage to the brain, if i have understood it right - from being bashed against your skull. please go to the doc, if only to get the expert's answer on the headaches.

*gangs up* yeah, now! right NOW!

please, please, honestly, it is a serious matter. bad enough that 2 concussions = rugby players are never allowed to play rugby again, for e.g.
it seems to be only riders that treat it so casually, tbh.

YEAH...................

Thanks Kerilli and Kick_On for your advice, my wrists are feeling well and truly slapped!
I was hoping to be told to give it a few more days and stop moaning! I have a hatred of hospitals/Doctors having spent too much time there, and have been known to leave a broken ankle for a week in the hope that it was just a sprain, and a DVT for a week or so because I didnt want to spoil the family holiday - oops!

So, I will stamp my feet all the way to the phone tomorrow and have a chat with my GP, who will probably tell me to ask for some help to do my four horses, and take things easy for a bit!
I will let you know how I get on, thanks for your support.

Er NO - you phone NHS Direct NOW or go to A&E! And explain the situation fully, not just "I knocked my head & now I've got a bit of a headache"!

I did go the GP after my "incident". He has two polo-playing sons and sent me away saying I might get a black eye. That was after he'd said to my husband "I can't understand her, does she always talk like this". I had headaches, gradually diminishing, for several weeks and found that it was worse if I tried to concentrate on anything. I felt totally unlike my usual self for at least two weeks. Lump on my head lasted for nearly six weeks and my eye was black/discoloured for the best part of three weeks.

Hope GP gives you the all clear!

Defiantly best to get it checked out!
But....When I last went to A&E after a fall, they told me if I hadn't been sick/was feeling sick then it's unlikely to be concussion. BUT it's better be safe than sorry! Have you called NHS direct? They'll be able to advise you.

My husband got knocked out (was flattened by a cow). He was kept overnight in hospital and after 2 weeks the docs told him to do what he could and get back to work (!) but the nurse said it would be 6 weeks before he felt back 100% and she was right.
