I had a fall on the 6th April. Landed onto my head and onto my helmet mounted camera. - got a new chest harness so wont be that silly again!!
Immediately after the fall I was fine, then that evening got a headache and just felt odd. Continued feeling a bit strange so went to doctors who diagnosed concussion. Said I would be fine in 7-10 days.
Its been nearly a month and I still feel odd at times, its the sort of feeling you get when you step off a long flight into a bright foreign airport. Sort of feeling overwhelmed and like there is too much going on and can't focus, a sort of feeling like i am not involved in the moment but just observing it.

Also have noticed I have reduced my ability to drink wine, now a sip makes me feel awful.

Has anyone any experience of concussion and recovery times? Just want to feel normal again.

I would either call NHS Direct or go back to your GP. As it's the weekend, NHS direct is going to be your best bet and they will probably advise you to go to a walk in centre.

I landed on my head jumping a few years back, horse jumped me off over a fence, so came down from a 16.3 that was jumping 1m.. Was knocked out for about five minutes. Went to hospital that afternoon and it took about 2 weeks before I felt a bit better, and a further week to feel normal again. The nausea and dizziness stayed for about 1 week, and then dizziness returned for the rest of the time if I moved too quickly. Felt really ill riding and in cars too.

-I would speak to your GP, but looking at my medical card earlier in the week BE suspend you for either 7-21 days for concussion (I think).

I would speak to GP, or call 111.

Hopefully its nothing, but I have heard horror stories about concussion.

I worked with someone who developed post-concussion syndrome after a nasty bang on the head, which was not deemed to be serious enough for an ambulance to be called at the time. She tried a phased return to work after about 8 months, as she was much improved but was then advised by her doctor to take more time off and eventually went back exactly 12 months to the day, after the injury was sustained. Apparently the medical profession is quite used to seeing this in motor-cyclists.

Go and get checked again, if only for peace of mind. Everyone's symptoms are different. I've had concussion too. Felt dizzy and disorientated for over 2 weeks and it took a month before I could ride. Moving quickly, watching tv and using the computer all made it worse. Doctor told me slight symptoms could go on for months. Hope you are better soon.

I came off on 1st April and hit my head and landed on my back. I was in hospital for 3 days, had a 48 hour migraine and it then took 2 weeks until I had full mental capacity again. I still have no recollection of the accident. It's quite common for it to take a few weeks to recover but definitely go and get checked out.

Took me about 3 wks before I started feeling normal again. Felt very weepy and spaced out prior to that.

Do definately get checked over again.

Ditto all of the above. I was unconscious for nearly an hour after a fall off a horse and when I came to was so disorientated I could barely work out how to use my phone to call for help. I was queasy and dizzy for a few days afterwards and felt quite strange on and off for a few weeks after that. Milton Keynes hospital discharged me when they should have kept me in and I ended up going back to a different hospital later. I hope you did manage to get checked over again and you're ok.

It was about 3 weeks for my last concussion too - a fortnight to feel like I could function normally, then another week or so to feel 100%.

I had concussion a few years ago after slipping on a wet tiled floor and landing on my head. I went to the doctors about a week after as I had really bad pain in my neck going to my shoulder but was also still feeling like I was suffering. Doctor told me that symptoms of concussion can last for a few weeks; feeling tired, mood going up and down, unable to concentrate etc.

However if you are worried I would pop in to see doctor or call NHS
