Hey.
I recently moved my rising 3 yo WB*TB to a new yard (11 days ago) He has settled really quickly and is the most settled he has been in months (now in a big herd!!)

He has been introduced to the herd of 12 other geldings and is gettin on really well. Being a baby he plays constantly. Every time I check on himhe is playing with someone.

He has gone from a small field with 10 non playfull mare to a hugs 12 acre field with very playful geldings! He is very happy and getting on brilliant with everyone but he has dropped condition.

I expected him to loose a little in the first little while (i know he hasnt been there long yet!!) But Heis hard to keep condition on anyways and i dont want him to drop too much. I think the route is the lack of grass but also his constant playing and running around!!

I dont want to seperate him as he will pace and he is so happy.

He is currently out at 8am and in at 16.00 with adlib hay overnight. He is on two feeds a day in which he has blue chip lami lite (2 mugs a day)(as he got lami last year) fast fibre (5 mugs a day) and linseed (5 mugs a day) I am now putting him up to three feeds a day. But am considering adding either blue chip original or allen and page calm and condition?

He is not underweight (but dropping) I have spent the whole winter fighting to keep condition on and know how hard he is to get condition on and dont want to let him drop too much.

I know its early days with the move but any advice would be appreciated.

When i know if i will be better with blue chip or allen and page i will ring the company up for added advice, but thought i would ask your opinions first.

I will bring him in earlier for the next week, to increase his hay intake but being a youngster he needs to be out to keep sane!!

Thanks for reading my essay!!

My new boy dropped a lot of weight a month or six weeks ago and i rang Dodson and Horrell. They suggested a high oil diet for him and i fed him leisure mix, alfa a oil, and their Build and glow. He wouldnt eat it!!! Would leave most of his feed and dropped even more weight.
Lots of people told me to try Calm and condition but i had also heard it sends them silly. Anyway, i borrowed a scoop of it from a friend and soaked it as you should. He couldnt get enough of it!! I am nearly finished my first bag of it and he is still scoffing every meal down. He hasnt gone silly on it at all and he is putting on weight every week.
I am feeding it with Alfa a oil and half scoop of cool mix and he absolutely loves it.
If you feed the recommended amount it seems quite a lot though.
I shall definitely be keeping him on it.

O thats good to know. I was also looking at Baileys outshine this eveing on the net which looks very promising. (I have to be so careful with the suger cause of his lami and he doesnt react well to alfalfa and most weight gain feeds have either alfalfa or high suger [12% with the calm and condition] but the outshine is lower......

Will call allen and page and baileys 2moz!

Thanks
