Theres been alot of posts about horses that are in bad condition, and most replys are pts.
So i thought i'd share my experiance
I used to help look after and groom a riding school pony, he was retiered aged 37 and was pts two years later.
He looked awful but had bags of energy, ate like a horse and galloped around the field right until the end
He had cushings, and couldnt eat hay very well but other than that he didnt really have any problems. He was slow around the yard but like a colt in the field
He was really happy right up until his last winter when he went rapidly downhill and was put to sleep
Monty in his last year ..
Yes he might have looked bad, but it was how he acted and behaved that made the final descion and you could tell he'd had enough.
Your thoughts and experiances please
