Confidence courses

I can highly recommend 'Cathy Sirett' ...... Here is her facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/Effective.Horsemanship

and here is her blog

http://effectivehorsemanship.wordpress.com/

which makes for some very interesting reading, and some major "light bulb" moments ... **oh yes** lol

Cathy has helped me no end with my difficult gelding, i have been to her confidence talks, i have helped out and seen first hand her "hacking with confidence" course, and will be actually taking my gelding to a hacking course (at a friends place locally) in April ... i`m really looking forward to it.

You can either have individual lessons/help or like with us, a group of us get together and spend a few days learning (she travels to you), and it honestly is brilliant ....... :)

Have you tried the 'Confident Rider' CD or downloads (through The HorseHub) - they are a self help NLP/relaxation CD which have really helped me. They are by Sharon Shinwell & for the money (about £10) are excellent.

I thought I fell asleep through it the first few times, but I've been surprised by how helpful they've been.

I want to go to Total Confidence event - which I think is being run by the Your Horse Live team in the Spring.

No, but I will look them up now.
Where do you find out about the YHL event?

I found out about it at YHL - I've not heard much more since , but the YH website might be a good starting point?

I hope you get on with the CDs/downloads - like I say, they really have helped me.

Good luck & feel free to PM if you need to chat :) x

Yes I went on a two day confidence course it was brilliant, didn't cure my lack of confidence but has pushed me in the right direction, it was with Charlotte Dennis and she's based near Banbury, was really good and gave me the right tools to get me going again.

Where abouts are you? I'm just about to start some confidence clinics at a yard near junction 15 of the M4.
We'll be covering groundwork, flatwork, pole work and jumping in separate clinics throughout the year.
Or depending on your requirements I can offer a confidence one to one where I'll either come to you or you come to me and we'll spend a few hours together with no pressure and just work together on some issues.
Happy to chat via pm if you'd like and I can provide references.
Don't worry of course if you've already arranged something with one of the other people who've been recommended.

Good luck

Have done a few over the years and have learnt something from all of them. (Look, top sports people have constant psychology sessions and I think that being/faking confidence is a skill that you need to work on as much as other riding skills).

The things that really helped me are hypnotherapy (good if your lack of confidence stems from specific incidents), having a brilliant teacher who helps me focus and understand my horses/my training weaknesses and how to improve them and strategies for dealing with things, the Sharon Shinwell CD;s have a lot going for them and if nothing else help you sleep well. I am currently booked on a Combat Confidence Course in Hertfordshire which has had good reviews on here - one of my biggest 'what ifs' is falling off and they teach you how to fall off!

So yes, give them a try, I don't think any of them are a 100% panacea but they all IME have something to offer!
