confidence issues

How do you get over them!?
The horse I lost my confidence was at least 3 years ago, iv had testing horses since, but nothing like him, and ridden my school master cob.
Nothing ever worried me before but now currently loaning a new horse who can be a bit jumpy has Me on edge.
We had a moment today which I worked through and was very proud of myself, but I did seriously think I was hitting the deck a few times!
Is it just a mind over matter? Or will this stay with me forever? :(
 
Hi, absolutely know where you are coming from, I lost my confidence with my boy when I got him, I still have him and my confidence is nowhere near what it used to be but we are slowly getting there. I got a good sympathetic instructor who understood exactly where I was coming from and a year on from that we are making improvements. I have also moved yards with some really friendly people who really encourage me aswell, I set myself little goals and dont beat myself up when things are tough, people do change and sometimes you just cant get back to exactly how things were, especially after confidence knocks/falls etc. I dont have any magic advice but either persevere with your horse or maybe sell him and get something you feel more confident with. I also come on here sometimes and there are some really friendly people on the forum for tips/advice/support. Good luck x
