Hi All,

I need some advice, I own the most amazing horse hes a 16.1 tb gelding and ive owned him for 4 years. about a year ago I started being quite nervous about riding him. he hasn't done anything to make me feel this way in all the time ive owned him and previously we used to go everywhere together and now I find myself having to force myself to ride and if he looks at anything I make an excuse and get off! I really want to overcome this but I just dont know how. My horse is my life and I dont want to sell him but its not fair to him. I am fine with him, on the ground.

He is currently being ridden by various friends and his sharer and is good as gold

Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear you've lost your confidence with your friend. To me, it sounds as though the problem has nothing to do with your horse ( you say he hasn't done anything wrong ), so perhaps you have an issue elsewhere in your life ? Are you depressed, anxious about anything , other than your riding ? Hope you work it out, don't give up. :)

Was there a particular incident which made you lose your confidence? I think you should start by tacking up, getting on, and getting straight off again and gradually build up stage by stage from there. Just give yourself small, possible goals. Good luck.

sorry to read your post, similar to mine earlier on (fight or flight) as mine is confidence (lack of) and illness related.

hmmm read some of my replies they may help you

i cant advise personally as i am also asking for advice!

interesting though as i have not been on here for months then you and i both post something similar, easier to ask an unbias hidden audience than friends isnt it?

good luck with whatever you decide and if your horse is as amazing as you feel, try try try again as they say?

hugs.
