I'm in need of a bit of a kicking :o
I had my first fall since getting back on Beau and it scared me a bit.

I've been getting shouted at for pushing him on and then dropping him one stride before the jump.
He gets really in front of my leg because he just can't wait to start jumping so we've been working on checking him and getting him listening and making myself sit still on the approach.

We were doing a course of about 95cm and 4-5 was a related distance on a dog-leg to a one stride double.
Well, silly me - I ended up holding him too much and I buried him in the first part of the double and ended up getting launched when Beau took an unexpected flyer. :( I honestly thought he was going to stop and I had images of my foot getting caught in my stirrup as I went out the side door.

it was totally my fault and I think I scared poor Beau as well.
I did get back on and jump the whole course again properly so we ended on a good note.

I honestly feel like screaming in frustration because Beau is jumping so well and I'm riding like a numpty.

Haribo star mix if you've gotten this far (and please be gentle if you're giving me a kick - my back is killing me as i don't bounce anymore) :o

I can totally sympathise with the ouchy back - i came off G about a month ago and though it wasn't a bad fall, I tweaked my back and it hurt, plus i'm having - or hopefully had - a crisis of confidence when jumping.
My advice would be take it back a level, just jump smaller for a while, but interesting things, skinnies, water trays on the floor and the like, but at a size where you can just enjoy it and go with it :-)

it's more the bits in between the jumps, if that makes sense?
the jumps aren't particularly high - it's putting everything together and not letting him dictate the pace.

I guess I just feel like I'm not good enough even though we're improving every lesson. meh :o

Sending some fellow chestnutter owner hugs! I know exactly how your feeling.. After Saturdays performance, I feel I'm letting miss moo down. Lets get drunk? Chin up blonde stuff! Onwards and upwards:D

god that sounds good - I'm very tempted :p
it was so embarrassing because there were random people watching and that's the first time I've fallen off in one of martin's lessons since I started with him nearly 3 years ago :o

at least that's the dreaded first fall over and done with. :p
