I got this email earlier-

I've just had a call from Midhurst Police & the following Email from the officer. This is a confirmed sighting, please pass on to anyone in the Sussex area. The registration is not for that vehicle, so they are certainly not taking photos for fun! Many thanks Steve Kitcher TAKING PHOTOS OF HORSES Please be aware that 2x Eastern European males with a white Ford Transit / index N253 XAJ have been seen in the last hour along the A27 in the Fontwell (West Sussex)area taking photographs of horses. Please report any sightings or other information to Sussex police, quoting serial 738 03/06.

Just so you know...

as the owner of the above mentioned van i have just telephoned the force concerned and they have confirmed that THERE WAS an incident bearing this reference however the index of the vehicle is DEFINATELY NOT N 253 XAJ
anyone wishing to confirm this please feel free to do so
i understand everyones frustration including my own as i keep having to check these out so i can confirm to dvla and eventually have my plates changed i also understand everyones good intentions but PLEASE CHECK ALL DETAILS BEFORE POSTING otherwise it will all start to circulate again

I got ent this from the editor of NFED (sent to everyone subscribed), who had previously sid that the romours were getting out of hand, and they would only email with stuff confirmed by police.
All this has been confirmed.

I assume the van was using false plates...which is what it says?

thats right the reg is a ford minibus and the previous post does say the vehicle could be on false plates
meaning it was my plates N253XAJ which was seen but that these plates had been cloned
i have actually spoken direct to the force concerned and they have confimed to me that the registration mentioned was not involved either cloned or otherwise
PLEASE AT LEAST LETS GET THIS STRAIGHT IT IS NOT A CREAM FORD MINIBUS RUNNING ROUND ON FALSE PLATES THE MINIBUS IS MINE AN 100% GENUNINE SO OF COURSE ITS COMING UP ON ALL CHECKS AS THIS AND ITS REGISTERED TO ME
WHAT A HEADACHE THIS IS BECOMING
PEOPLE ARE JUST NOT READING POSTS CORRECTLY OR STILL PASSING ON MESSAGES WITHOUT CHECKING

This hysteria seems to be escalating! It would just be great to hear the correct facts to sort from the hoaxes. I think all of this is getting out of hand now!!

Rang local police station earlier this evening as was concerned - they rang the police force in that specific area who then rang me back and said that yes there had been sightings and members of the public had rung the police to throw up a red flag, but they also told me that had NO car descriptions or registration plates had been reported to them.

NO HORSES HAVE BEEN STOLEN IN CONNECTION WITH THESE 'EASTERN EUROPEANS' OR THE ALLEGED CARS!!!!!

I feel sorry for the poor person who actually has their horse stolen and posts on here only to have the post lost under all of the 'my friend said her friend heard that someone saw this'! I'm sorry for ranting, I'm just pretty fed up with this.

This isnt 'my friend said this' its someone who i believe is in contact with the local horsewatch. I think the bit here- TAKING PHOTOS OF HORSES Please be aware that 2x Eastern European males with a white Ford Transit / index N253 XAJ have been seen in the last hour along the A27 in the Fontwell (West Sussex)area taking photographs of horses. was non specific to the first part, it was sort of like a P.S, the first part had been confirmed, i dont know if it was that number plate or otherwise- just thought people might like to know

I agree with you CarysDB, my post about lilly my friends pony, which has been lost she was stolen and we are looking for her!

All these post are scaring eveyone for the safety of their horses and unless the police report saying about horses stolen! (which would defiantly be on the news) no posts should be put up!
I no there have been confirmed sightings of the van etc, but you can't do anything!!

I think people should stop posting on here and let people who have had their horses stolen write! Please help us to find lilly, we need her back!
