Here's Roo tonight! he's a 13.2hh Newforest (forest bred) gelding, and is 5 years old. he's quite fit at the moment, but i was wondering what you think of his condition? also any comments on conformation would be very appreciated

i think he's a bit long in the back, but apart from that he looks ok to me...

please scuse the state of my stable, he was in for a couple of hours 2day, and he managed to pick up his water bucket (which is a rubber trug, and in the corner, AND jammed in a tyre) and chuck it around, then roll in it. clever pony lol

Pretty pony! Second Scotsmare on the weight if he were mine I'd want him a bit leaner on the approach to summer but I am super paranoid about Lami.

yeah, lami is soo scary, we haven't had a native around for ages, so it'll take some adjustment. he's not on good grass, (he only arrived last thurs

) but we're bringing him in through the day. we're thinking about just using a grazing muzzle, he's in with other horses but he still doesn't like it.

Do you know what his bloodlines are forest bred newfies all unknown ? (Sorry don't know much bout theses things) just because he looks very similar to one of my chaps

i'm bringing him on for my little sister

He's a good jumper, but green, gonna work on that...

he's out of a mare called Moorcorner Bramble, i don't know his sire off the top of my head but he's in his passport

As well as being a bit long, from these photos it looks as though he has a very upright shoulder, a short thick neck which is set rather low, and his head/neck angle is too abrupt. Might also be a bit back at the knee, but photos can be misleading on this.

On the plus side he has nice short cannons, quite strong quarters, good depth, good chest and a very nice expression - and he's in very good condition, obviously very well cared for! Wouldn't want him any fatter, but he looks very well indeed, and beautifully groomed - congratulations!

I think he's a really nice sort.

I don't agree that he's long in the back - I think it's deceptive because he has no wither, and so gives the impression of being a little long. I actually think he's quite short coupled.

Yep, a little straight in the shoulder, and this coupled with no wither probably makes him a bugger to saddle.

But what a lovely chap.

Absolutely no more weight on him though.....

"Yep, a little straight in the shoulder, and this coupled with no wither probably makes him a bugger to saddle."

lol Yep, he had to have one specially made because everything else would just go onto his neck x)

being a Newfie, i personally dont think he's long in the back....
