I've seen other peeps do this and I'd be interested in opinions on my boy. He's rising 3, was a late foal (September) so may look a bit behind to others born the same year. Photos were taken today and any comments on his condition are welcome too :)

All comments welcome, thanks :)

He's got lovely confo for his type, a proper cob sort.

he's possibly a little close behind, but that may be due to his age and type so I wouldn't worry! Thats about the only thing I can think of to say re his confo!

I think he's gorgeous!

Someone might shoot me for this but...

isn't he SLIM for a cob?! o.o are they ribs I see faintly?! Don't know enough about confo to comment on someone elses horse but i'd say he's in lovely condition :p Love the feathers too :D Don't ever hog him and shave those off!

He has really good conformation! Well grown for his age as well.
I'm not sure if this is true but he looks a bit "over at the knee" (its not flat but sticking out a bit) but i dont think this affects them in any way. I may be completely wrong lol i have never seen one over at the knee before :P

Hehe thanks so far peeps, glad you like :)

Lol, he may well be a bit slim, though he is getting fed lots but putting it all into growing, bless him. You can't really see his ribs when looking at him, so I wonder if it's the light, but I can feel so just keeping a close eye that what I feed him is being used and not stored :)

Ah yes, someone has pointed this out before. As it is, it's actually all the hair!! He has flat bone underneath but his knees are sooooo hairy that he looks over. I trimmed them for his last show, looked much better, will need to do the same for a show this Saturday too as it's grown back pretty quick lol! Glad he's looking good for his age, I'm always worried he'd be lacking a bit to others his age but with help from a lovely lady at my yard, I think he's looking pretty good condition wise now :)

He look fab for a 3 year old, I would be very happy if he was mine and you would not say he was a late foal as looks quite strong and very healthy. He is lovely and in proportion, gorgeous, good luck for Saturday

Thanks guys, I'm so glad he doesn't look behind, I really think the feeding has made a big difference and I know it's definitely worth it now :)

lalalala - He is a traditional heavy weight cob. I think he's cob through and through but unfortunately, I don't have any family history on him so no idea where he came from, which is a real shame.

Hehe no-one is allowed him but me :D Getting him was very much a heart over head matter (perfect horse but a baby) that I questioned afterwards, but his is turning out to be such a sweetie, I cannot wait til I can ride him next year :)

BANG BANG!

Lol, I would say his weight is very good. You really dont want too much weight on, especially on a younster (joint stress etc) - or any horse for that matter! Sorry but my pet hate is overweight horses and I would say your boy is looking very good!

He is a cutie though! And for 3 he is very impressive! A good old-fasioned short coupled cob :-)

Thanks student vet, that's my thinking too so just keeping a close eye on his weight. As soon as he starts to store instead of using his feed for growing, I'll be cutting back :) He's getting fed quite a bit at the mo but he's putting it all into growing. No doubt in a couple of years, he'll just look at grass and get fat lol. But we'll see...

Aww thanks, so glad he's looking good for his age :) Hoping he'll make at least 15hh, he's currently 14.2 so fingers crossed!
