Confo critique this horse...

I would say he would look a lot better under tack and this photo isn't the most flattering of him! He's upright in front and bit long backed for me. His legs are also too fleshy for me but he's 15 and might have been stood in before this pic. Strong 2nd thigh and good bone. Doesn't have the most attractive head but then we can't all be beautiful and again it might be the pic. For the racing people who remember Attraction running trained by Mark Johnston she had the most horrendous conformation and was a terrible mover yet a 5 times Gp1 winner..... I have just had a look at the link and doesn't he enjoy his job. I must admit I do agree that sometimes it's not all about beauty and correctness. Are you in Spain? Certainly wasn't an English commentator!!! The other thing I would like to add is sometimes even a good looking horse (in the flesh) is hard to stand up and they just slop and don't throw off a good impression to start with. Maybe what we'd call not photogenic in our world!
 
Thats why I love showjumping so much, it doesn't matter one jot what the horse looks
like, as long as they want to jump and are capable of leaving the fences up :)

When can I have a sit on?! :)

The ribbiness + bloated belly suggests stomach ulcers. Perhaps he would benefit from a visit from a good physio - I think the problems are less to do with conformation than comfort.

I've known this horse for a number of years. My uncle has been his main rider for even longer. He's 16 now and sound as a pound, unbeatable against the clock. The photo was taken just as he was coming back into work after a period turned away. I have no concerns about his soundness or management, but thank you for your input.

I filmed the vid in Argentina. Faisan will probably never jump Grand Prix but what he does he's extremely good at. Very very quick against the clock :)

He certainly looks much better under saddle when he's working properly. The way he stands he looks as if he's slouching, doesn't he? :p
 
hi, i like it, would like to see move for final decision, it is standing with its front legs a bit underneath its body and its short in the shoulder, if it was a mare i might consider it for breeding.

At the age of 15 I reckon he's allowed to slouch a bit when he's stood still! If it makes you feel better, my 15 stands like that and I always say he has a beer belly - it's his middle aged spread. He looks totally different under saddle once he engages his abs and works properly, as I imagine this chap does.
