Ok I know its been done to death on here, but I would really be interested in what people reckon to Pidge's conformation? I don't know a lot about conformation in horses so would be interested to hear what people think of him. Thanks in advance

He's a nice sort isn't he? Lovely shoulder, super short pasterns and cannon bones. Perhaps a little straight in his hock?

thanks Amymay, I was told he had good sloping shoulders. don't know what you mean about straight hocks though? told you I know nothing about conformation at all! All I know, rightly or wrongly, is that if the overall picture looks good then nothing majorly wrong with conformation, and that if the overall picture looks bad then its usually got something wrong conformation wise - just the way I was brought up. But am seriously interested in learning more about this.

I would say slightly long in the back and a bit of a low set neck but thats about all.

have to agree with that as he's very long in the back as he's 16.3hh but in a 7' or 7'3" rug

and his neck is huge where it meets his shoulders as some of the neck covers won't fasten on him!

deffo agree the long in the back although could be made alot less noticable if you concentrated on building up his topline as at in these pictures he looks weaker over the loins than he would do if properly muscled up.

its a long and slow process but am getting there gradually, see his spine behind his saddle on this photo taken a year ago.

He is a lovely boy, and whilst you would want him a little more compact and uphill ideally, I bet he's comfortable as the day is long and just as honest.
How is he bred?

do you really want to know?

am seeing a 3yrold tb on sunday (bred to event not race, big loose jump, excellent conformation, or so they say) anyway he does look lovely so hopefully i will like him and he will pass a vetting and i will not have to do this again for a very long time!

you know him well then

extemely comfortable with a canter you could sit to all day..................... honest - spot on has got me jumping again up to 2'6" and I hadn't jumped since I was a teenager

He's a registered ISH - sired by minstrel bouncer TB out of rostyduff bridge ISH. Great grandsires are luthier TB and Carnival Night TB and King of Diamonds RID and Purple Heather RID on his dams side.

of course

will have absolutely everything crossed on Sunday for you as you seem to have a bit of bad luck in your horse hunt so far

have come to the conclusion im jinked
grin.gif
selling the last one was impossible, everything that could go wrong did, and now buying seems to be just as bad, oh well, havent got any expectations any more, so wont be dissapointed when i get there and its missing a vital part of its anatomy
smirk.gif

don't be silly of course you're not jinxed. it's just a bit of bad luck and it can't last forever can it? seriously though the right horse is out there somewhere for you

Oh good re the diet, what topspec are you going to put him on?

oh dear didn't realise it was quite that bad........ so on that basis then 2007 has got to be better than 2006

hasn't it?

oh good god don't even think of giving up horses and taking an office job, I HATE working in my office, well most of the people are ok its the horrible ones that spoil it and it tends to get in the way of what I want to do
mad.gif
but necessary to pay the bills

sounds good to me, sis has got Sunny on the leisure time feed balancer as we tried him on the antilam and he wouldn't eat it! He is a cob so doesn't need a lot of feed so has his TS and a bit of hapy hoof. Will post about somerford park as booked it now.
