hi, am learning about confo of the horse in my degree and was interested to see what you thought of mine, good and bad.

he is only 3 years old so i guess you cant tell if he will end up croup high etc but any initial judging would be great :)
 
Hmmm...Ok, I know nothing about this sort of thing but am trying to learn :D So can someone crit my confo crit please :p hope you don't mind OP.

Good shoulder, croup high but young so still growing, slightly upside down neck? (could just be pics) but set on body well, decent pasterns...slightly under in front?...eeeerm....Well proportioned, maybe a teeny bit sickle hocked behind. Good hind end I think...

I am probably totally wrong about all that btw :D Sorry :rolleyes:

He's preeetty tho!!! I personally can't see anything that would be a major hinderence or work against him really.
 
V difficult to critique coloured / spotty ponies - but he looks lovely. Hooves need attention of farrier, cut them back - neck looks a little short - but my experience is with race horses mostly - so might not be a problem withyour job?
 
can i just ask what does upside down neck mean?
your horse seems fine, if had to be very strict, neck bit short and very slight yew neck but prob just photo as 1st photo shows abit and second is fine in it just wee bit short. leg bone not too strong. shoudlers and croup will come with work, as only young so all in all i think looks good. but never heard of upside down neck would love to know what this means thanks, love learning new terms in horses. you have one stunning boy.

Upside down neck = Muscle on the underside of the neck rather than on top. That's all I've ever known it to mean!!

No idea on Confo but he's lovely! (as I have said before!!) I think a bit more muscle on his neck would make it look more in proportion though, but that will come in time as he's only young :D
 
Lovely baby, nice head, eye & ears, well covered - his shoulder might be a bit upright but that could be because he's croup high atm. When that levels out it might give him a bit more reach of neck too.
Agree that a trim is in order, you'd be surprised how many 'conformation' faults originate at ground level!
It's probably coincidence that he has his near hind forward in both shots, just watch out for little 'habits' like that, it can indicate some muscle tension.
I hope he is the horse you always wanted!
 
I am only learning about conformation so all I can say is no major issues jump out at you with him, so just really wanted to say I think he's lovely - lucky u, I do like the spotty ones x
 
Thanks. These are quite old pictures as had no decent recent pics of him regarding feet though he does need his feet doing right now! I three that his hind toes ate too long. Had the trimmed back last time farrier came but it was weird cos they grew so quickly again. Hopefully will be a lot better wen he has shoes on.
I agree its hard for me to critique him cos he's spotty it like distorts how he looks :p
