Confused about buyers....

This isn't about my pony but as I find it so strange I thought I would still write about it.

Girl at my yard has her 4 year old pony advertised for sale. She's quite frankly scared of riding it. It chucks her off regularly and she will only walk it out hacking.
She decided to sell the pony because of this and advertised it as suitable for children, novices and riding school because it's bombproof :mad: and also put it up for a ridiculous amount! She had no interest so drastically reduced the price and had one person ring up and come and see the pony.

It was a mother and daughter, daughter about 12 years old and a novice.
Mother rode the pony first in the school and fell off. Didn't see what happened but owner said pony chucked a buck in? Then little girl rides the pony out hacking and the pony bolts up the road with her, girl got off and walked the pony back inhand. Sounds disasterous yes? The mother and daughter then say they definitely want the pony subject to vetting and leave a deposit!

I wouldn't say the pony is cheap for what it is either!! I would never pay what they are for it! I just can't get my head round it personally. And wouldn't be happy selling the pony to them!

Well, my first share horse took off with me in the school (was terrified of whips but I didn't know and been lent one by the owner) when I tried him, took several circuits to stop him.

We got on very well and he built my confidence more than anything.

Maybe they can see some potential.

Sounds as though current owner isn't ideal either...

In my opinion the pony isn't pretty at all! But maybe to some? I don't think it helps that it's largely overweight at the moment too!
 
what kind of mother gets chucked off a horse and then decides its a good idea to throw her daughter on???
 
Well tbh I sold a horse a couple of years ago that was to a mother/daughter share. They came and tried the horse once - both rode him in the school and I took the daughter for a hack. Horse buck girl off twice!! However - they loved him and bought him and now he's BSJAing, beach rides, dressage, PC teams etc etc. So - it's not always a disaster!!
 
i went to view a pony over 20yrs ago and the pony bolted with me, proper bolt not just running off. when i got back to the field where the owners and my family were waiting they were confused as to why the pony was sweating, i told them he bolted and they were genuinely shocked but couldn't work out why i was laughing. i got him and we had so much fun together. i always felt safe on him even if the rides were always fast!

as a mother though i wouldn't put my kids on a pony that had chucked me off and i certainly wouldn't buy it after it had chucked my kids off so i don't really understand that one!
