I went to a new yard about 2 weeks ago and YO says that I need to be insured for public liability. When I asked her if she meant that I personally have to be insured or my horses she didn't really give me a straight answer (I don't think she really knew herself as she's not horsey) she just said that I need to be covered for public liability. I told her that I have my Miniature insured and that public liability is included in that and I am getting my new boy insured with same company so his insurance will be the same.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what she really means?
Sorry if it seems like I'm babbling but as post says...I'm confused!!

She'll mean that your horse has to have public liability insurance. I have to have Public Liability for mine at the yard I am at.

I currently have BHS Gold Membership and that covers mine for Public Liability (Think it's £3mil, but stand to be corrected).

Most Insurance companies will ask if you want Public Liability or not. So when you insure your other horse, make sure you do include Public Liability...

... Or just get BHS Gold Membership and renew that yearly :D

If you join the BHS as a gold member, you get free public liability insurance with the membership, and it will cover you and the horses you own. Alternatively any equestrian insurance company will sell it to you.

I have to have my horses covered for Public Liability on the yard I am on. I also have BHS Gold membership so am covered that way (I think it covers you for up to £10 million).

Is "third party liability" the same as public liability? As that is what is included in my current insurance. Sorry guys, I am so clueless when it comes to things like this!
