Confusing BSJA membership website

I want to join for the 1st time, but I have been going around in circles on their website. I think I have to pay £113 to be a "Full jumping member" plus £66 for Charlie as a Grade C making £179.

However, the special offers page says "50% Discount for 1st time members on membershiprates" (sic), so do I only have to pay £89.50?

Then there is the paperwork... I have to complete an "Initial Registration Form", which doesn't exist in the forms section. They want a sketch of Charlie (is wax crayon acceptable?), etc. All very confusing!
 
Are you a RC member? My advice if not pay £20 to join a RC to get the RC deal as it is by far the best. It is £120 for you and the horse. That price will be set for 2 years for you and horse.

The 50% deal is just off your membership!

Also finally if you have a friend who is a BSJA member if you say they recommended you join they get £25 off next year.
 
As for the sketch, you have to send your passport to them (well, the horses really) and they get the sketch from that. Ditto th RC membership, works out much better!
 
I have to say, their whole website is pretty pants & confusing. It *looks* okay til you want to find something out, & then nothing you click on does what you want...
 
I agree. For example if you click on Calendar, it doesn't show today's shows, though you can find them if you enter a specific search for today's date.

It will have to be my horse's as I don't have a passport!

I would rather take a 1/2 day off and take his passport there (its an hour away) than trust it to the Post Office in Xmas rush period to get it there and back!

What are they writing in? Extra slow drying ink? I would tell them 1st that I was going and when.

I have done some sums, and the £21.50 I would save with the RC deal is wiped out by the extra Tickets to Ride that I would have to buy to get me through the period of sorting out the RC membership. Thanks for the info though.
 
Just checked his passport. It still is not transferred from the 1st owner, and I bought him from the 2nd...in Oct 2005. Oops...

This could take a while to resolve...

That isn't a problem, we've never had our horses in our names when we reg them BSJA

Nope coz you can send passport and RC membership card in at a later date - I had to due to needing the passport for eventing and the RC thing and just got sent temp cards that lasted for a couple of months until I sorted it all! Worked fine. So RC is still the best deal.
 
Also 50% off is for 1 year where as RC deal is for 2 years so actually you save about £100 as effectively horse is registered for free for 2 years.
 
By my figures, at standard rates (£113 + £66), 2 year's membership costs £358.

The 50% off my £113 in year 1 offer, makes it £301.50 over 2 years.

Going through the RC route (£20 + £120), makes 2 year's membership costs £280. i.e. only saving a further £21.50 over 2 years.

How do you £100?

Website is misleading - you only get 50% off YOUR membership, not the horse membership too (i.e. not the total cost of being able to jump!)
 
Please people, don't go adding 2 years' membership together because it makes it look very £££££££££... I try not to think about it, and I've got BD too...

BSJA dont really care who's name is on the passport. Ownership is taken from the form.
