Confusing lorry tax?

My 7.5t lorry tax is £255. Most other people I know pay £165. On checking the DVLA V149/1 document, I am sure it should be £165 as it comes under band A0. Can anyone clarify? Whatever band it comes under, I can't see one that comes out at £255. I am confused.

How does this work? Do you get a bill each year from DVLA with the amount due marked on it?

Yes. Like anyy car tax. But i think they have classified it wrong, hence the question.

On trying to tax the lorry at a post office, I've also been told I had the wrong MOT certificate. Very odd situation as I have several years worth and they are all the same.

What is the taxation class on the V5? Mine is 'Private HGV'. Other bits which may be relevant:

Revenue weight: 7500 kg gross
Wheelplan: 2 axle-rigid body

I had this problem, and had to fill in and pay for a VTG10, because I had a private plate but no one had picked up on it until this year....
