How exciting!

Thanks Tinker. Someone else has just phoned me to say an article was in the Evening Telegraph. I am really looking forward to the move & can not wait to start on the new build. You must come over & introduce yourself when we actually start building. ( which hopefully will be in the next few weeks)

Congratulations Freshman! I wish you all the luck with the new venture and look forward to updates here if you have time to sit and type for a few minutes....you are going to be very busy for a while I think!

Sorry, I forgot to put that!

My comment wasn't meant to be snidey at all (just in case it reads as badly to everyone else as it does to me now!) I wish you all the luck and await your updates with interest. I still have no idea what you are actually up to, but it sounds very exciting!

This is from the Telegraph website (have deleted anybits Freshman might not want on an open forum so I don't get in trouble!)

"A FAMILY of one of the country's top young show jumpers is hoping a new £1.5million equestrian centre will secure his status among the elite of the sport.

Richard and Janet Mizon, from Todmorden, finally got their hands on land in ******* Road, Langho, earlier this year and then set about getting planning permission for a livery yard that will provide a range of services for owners of horses.

And the proud parents hope the new facilities will give a helping hand to their 18-year-old son, Andrew, who has competed on the international show jumping stage for Great Britain. Andrew performed for the Under-18 Great Britain team in last year's European Junior Show Jumping championship that took place in the Olympic Stadium in Athens. He is now part of the Under-21 set-up and is hoping to carry on competing on the international stage.

The new equine centre in Langho will enable the talented youngster to improve because of the facilities it will provide. These will include an equine spa - a jacuzzi for horses to allow them to heal from injuries quicker - and large indoor and outdoor arenas.

It will also allow them to hold meetings and demonstrations for other riders and provide revenue to fund the expensive pursuit.

The proposals for a new equine centre will allow other horse enthusiasts to view their animals via webcam in the stables.

Andrew's dad Richard, 47 said: "We hope work can start by the end of the summer and that it will be a credit to the area.

"There will be web cameras in the stables so that people can check on their horses and see how they are doing. That's the way things are going and a lot of the stables will be open for people to rent from us.

"My son hopes to get to the top and we hope we can attract some good horses to the stables and some of them will have a lot of potential for Andrew to develop."

And a lovely picture.....

LOL I havent seen the article yet! However as usual the papers get it wrong

What we are trying to do is set up a livery / competion yard / Stud. Obviously the facilities we need for Andy are really quite good so we decided. Why not try & earn an income from them. Seriously though we will have to have a slight change of direction, & try & breed & bring on youngsters. We have no intention of attempting to find the huge sums of money to buy made horses. Fortunately since 138cm days, Andy has always run complete novices at the same time as graded ponies. So, by now he either knows his job or he doesnt. This is not an excersise to maintain his competing. More of a business venture for him to earn a living.
We have bought some rather nice youngstock. ( they are definately keeping me on my toes) & I must be honest I have been bursting at the seams about the breeding. So fingers x'd Lady Luck will be with us on this new venture.
PS I dont think we will be giving Norman a run for his money, he is far too well established to be worried about us. LOL

I wish you every success with the new venture. It sounds great. Remember to give me a shout if you are up at Rowallan or Ingliston Stud.

Your OH looks to be enjoying himself

Didn't know about the breeding bit, how VERY exciting

*Sticks hand in the air* MEMEME I am VERY interested

Got a mare from SUPERB lines you can use for embryo transfer if you like LOL!! Are you going to let your stallys do any work (as in the 2 you already have/had you know what I mean lol!!!)

You wouldnt let your mare do embryo surely. Thought you was going out competing again!!!!!!!!!
Yes these stally's will work.
3 x 3yr olds & I am very excited about the breeding.

The absolute best is Zandio. Indoctro x Burggraaf x Nimmerdor already standing 16.3 (all the dams side are Pref Pres mares

Zarconi. Quidam de Revel x Galoubet x Ahorn

Cardino. Carthago x Lord x Sympatico

& two mares

Veria. Numero Uno x Burggraaf x Le Mexico (again fab Dams side)
& another that is due to foal anyday that is still in Holland. Cant remember breeding for the life of me. LOL
Exciting though dont you think.

I would love a little Porridge, but I don't want to put her in foal - she had a foal but couldn't get back in foal hence why she was sold. Since been told by her back lady (unprompted) that she was suprised if she ever got in foal because of the angle of her pelvis (now fixed). Anyway on to you...

I absolutely LOVE the sound of Zandio
grin.gif
Indeed lines I very much am interested (as are the rest of the SJ world!) Also love Quidam de Revel and Ahorn, though do not know much about Galoubet
smirk.gif
And a Carthargo Z - mmmmmm perfect, he is one of my most fave horses ever
grin.gif

You need to set up allbreedpedigree sites for them - this is Porridges www.allbreedpedigree.com/lanjagold

Porridge has good breeding.
Galoubet is x Alme & sired Baloubet de Rouet (won 3 world cups) & Galoubet de Rouet (2nd Aachen) Also sire of Quick Star (Meredith Michaels Beerbaum) winner of numerous world cups. Loose jumping & movement of all of them are fabulous. But there are never any guarentees. So keeping fingers firmly x'd. All of them could so easily be dressage horses though.

Nah I am definately too old for all that, My friend Maria that finished up riding my dressage horses when Andy got into showjumping is though. We are already working on Veria who is 5 ( & I want to make it clear here & now) SHE IS MINE. (Told OH not to come back from the sale without her) I love her to bits & she is true Burggraaf style. She has bred a foal & is now ready to go on. Andy keeps popping her over fences & Maria & 'I' keep doing flatwork. But she enjoys both. I firmly believe that Mares & Stally's need to have lots of variation & should not specialise in any one area too early. A good all round education is best me thinks!
