I am interested in a Connemara (sp) pony near me. It is being advertised under its name and gives its sire and dam names aswell. I've searched both the irish and british Connemara databases and have found the dam and sire although they seem to be completely unremarkable. I can't find any trace of the pony itself though, even though it has its dam's prefix.
I haven't been to see the pony yet, its been gelded, could it be registered properly?
If it appears to have a connie passport would this be a fake?

Just wondering how it could be....

Depending on its age it should be micro chipped and the number is on the passport, which is green, if its an Irish passport and the pony has been transferred in the UK it will have been signed and checked by the BCPS, they very good at the paperwork.
In the old days it was possible to buy a pony with its foal certificate and then apply for its papers, now they should have a full passport never accept its in the post as it will need it to travel. I have an older Irish mare that I am sure lost some years when she was passported. If you at all unsure take a photo of the passport and ring the BCPS office for advice.
There are people importing them from Ireland and selling them on for not a lot of money, I am sure some are very nice but its like all things whether you just want a Connemara or a good Connemara. Make sure its not too big if you want to show as a M&M as it must not exceed 14.2 for affiliated showing classes.

Some times the Irish spell the names wrong! Lol. We have one currently registered as "herp" but in its passport it says "hero" they aren't too hot on checking typos! If your ever in doubt though you can get them DNA typed easily.
