Wasn't sure where to post this so sorry if its in the wrong place, but need help with a question quite urgently.

Am in the process of buying a connemara. The owner said she has shown him and I told her thats what I mainly want to do, like NPS M&M workers. She said he would be great for this. I asked her what class he was registered as and she said he wasn't as his breeder in Ireland hadn't bothered with the inspection but that it didn't matter for showing what class they were.

After some research online tonight I have found that he is most likely a class 3 and that these ponies can't be shown. Just wondered if anyone could help me and tell me if this is true or if class 3 ponies can be shown. As if they can't there is no point buying him and we are meant to be having him vetted tuesday! He has a green passport if that means anything.

Thanks very much to anyone who can help

They don't bother with the geldings anymore. My connemara was classed as a class1 when i registered him into my name with the british connemara society.
All I had to do was tell them that he was under 14.2.
From what i understand only stallions and mares have to be inspected now.
Happy to stand corrected if someone whats to add anything.

I would ring the BCPS, http://www.britishconnemaras.co.uk/
what ever you do make sure it has the right passport it should be Irish and he should have been DNA'd and chipped. If he hasn't got the right passport it will devalue him.
Colts are only graded and inspected if they are going to be stallions but he should be registerd and passported as a gelding when you send the passport to the BCPS it will be put on their register. My mare as an Irish connie passport.

Do not part with any money till the passport has been checked. I know someone who paid alot of money for a Connie who's passport was 'lost'
