Constipated Dog

So post op my friends dog is doing well, but is totally constipated.

She's had something from the vet to get her gut moving but it's not working.
Can anyone suggest anything that could help?

Some apple slices? They are recommended for babies with constipation so i use them when Stan isn't as regular as i like. Maybe not strong enough for a bad case tho x

You could try rhubarb stewed with some brown sugar. Make sure dog is drinking plenty of fluids as a major cause of constipation is in fact dehydration.
When did dog last have a poo, check out the Bristol stool chart so you can give accurate description of constancy to the vet

I am told milk does the job nicely!

My boy stole the turkey carcass last year and ate the lot. Next day he was in a lot of discomfort (bloody mucus the lot) the vet gave him anti inflammatory and nothing happened until I gave him a tin of sardines with oil. Did the job after a restless night and 'walking it out' and watching erm progress with a torch he shot out a rock hard bony cannon ball poop at 3am. Good luck at the vet x
