My dog is constipated and hasn't 'been' for three days, he isn't drinking either. Have been to the vets, but just wondered if anyone has any tips on: how to get his to go to the toilet, drink, or how many times to give him water with the syringe per day. Any help much appreciated :) x

I think maybe back to the vets esp as its been 3 days and he is not taking fluids, he may need an enima, is he old, whats his diet like?
If he is still eating you could try some vegie oil in his dinner, did you get an liquid parrafin from your vets or anything at all?

The vet just said to come back on Monday if he's still the same/worse, they didn't give us anything at all :/ we've just tried the veggie oil though, so fingers crossed. And he's a nine year old jack Russell cross.

Ah, so he is an older boy, so he may well need some assistance with the passing which the vet will need to help with:D hopefully the oil will help, a good few glugs in the food.
Has he eaten anything he should not have that could have bunged him, whats his usual diet like?

Try some meat, it may loosen him, also has high water content, so he will get some moisture form it too.

Maybe look into changing his diet if he keeps having bouts of constipation, something like jameswellbeloved with the small tns of sardines in oil from the supermarket or fish 4 dogs and get the salmon oil they sell, the oil may help loosen him.

Hopefully its not somthing that result in an enima and you can help with his diet.:)

You may not want to hear this but try putting the oil in the other end too  Sounds nasty but if everything has been stationary in there for over 3 days then it will be pretty dry and uncomfortable....
