I was reading the posts on "bran for constipation", recently my horse hasnt been passing as much as normal, shes on topline cubes, showshine chaff, linseed losenges and veg oil already, Shes come off sugar beet recently could that be my solution?

Im already soaking her feeds with warm water. any advice willingly taken!!!

Thanks

Could well be. I presume you are still adding a decent amount of water to her feed rather than just enough to dampen it. Also are you really well soaking your hay?

Have a word with your vet if you are worried, it may be she needs something like Epsom Salts for a few days but you need to speak to him first before using something like that.

Is your horse out on grass at all at the moment? Most horses at the moment at our yard have much looser bowels than normal because of all the grass coming through, I'd be speaking to a vet if she was out on grass and still constipated

Try Glauber Salts / Lakota salts I have used in the past with elderly pony, something to do with gut ph as I remember. Also this worked for a friends horse more recently. Not cheap but only small quantity required on an as & when basis. Badminton feed stockist may have some.

Thank you for all your advice!!!
Some things id never have thought of myself!

She's all good now, back to normal! thanks
