Ruby suffers with her poo!!

She will 'go' twice a day quite regularly but more often than not the poo is not only HUGE for her size but also a bit dry. This leads to squeaking and anxiety which obviously is not good.

There is always water available, she has Skinners Duck and Rice ad lib and she gets a lot of exercise every day so Im wondering if an oily supplement may 'ease' things for her.

I know a lot of folks use salmon oil for their dogs but does this also have a lubricating quality?

Any suggestions will make Ruby a happy girlie!

Olive oil or vegie oil may do the trick, a few glugs in her food each night, a few of my more slender dogs get vegie oil every day to keep their weight but im sure it would help to lubricate:D
If you want to try Salmon oil Fish 4 dogs sell big bottles.

I will have a go with olive oil Cayla....I can see WW3 breaking out if the cats get a whiff of salmon in the house!!!

Thank you.

When Kc was on Royal Canin she suffered constipation. I found adding some water to the food to ensure she took on more fluids helped. Also adding 1/4 packet of Naturediet helped :)

Ulimately I changed her food which worked

Thanks Kc, Ive added oil to her diet yesterday and today so Im hoping it will show a result later tonight! If that doesnt work then I will add fluid to the food. Failing that it will have to be a semimoist food for both dogs.

Im pleased to report that a tablespoon of olive oil works very nicely thank you! No squeaks tonight and sensible sized deposit!!!

Glad the olive oil worked!:D

I changed over to Orijen - expensive but worth it! Kc has very delicate digestion coupled with her ailments I decided to bite the bullet and bought the best!

However Kc has been eating a nasty cheap working diet when we visit OH's house and has been perfectly fine on it so far so contemplating trying that as she seems to prefer it  If she is happy to nudge a GSD out of the way she MUST like it
