Lady is fine to canter on her own, but a nightmare in company and often bucks in trot out of excitement other than that she's perfect.
Fudge easy peasy in walk and trot, difficult in the school in canter as he lacks balance, he's just learning to jump, hacks well in company but lacks confidence alone.
i put 8 for walk- shes pretty easy unless she spooks at something in the hedgeline! i put 8 to trot as again she will just plop along if you wanted her to. i put 2 for canter...shes awfull! my instructor found her difficult too- shes really quite mad! Jumping i put 5- if you can cope with a big jump then she is fine, but she often takes strides out or jumps HUGE or goes fast into the fences so easily scares less confident people, but never stops (As of yet!) and rarely touches a pole. i put 9 for hacking- she is a plod and traffic proof, but sometimes has spooks at silly things such as an odd coloured leaf
Almost impossible in everything except jumping. I've had her 3 years next week and I still can't figure her out. Last weekend it took me 40 minutes to do a 400m circuit through the woods because she kept leaping in the air, kicking backwards (including kicking barbed wire) and running backwards into rabbit holes. The only reason i managed a second lap was because she kicked a tree, spooked herself and bolted off down the path she was trying to avoid.
So i pretty much answered 1-2 in everything except jumping. She loves showjumping and i think just gets bored doing anything else!
shes not difficult in a bad way just needs riding forward and together.
she requires soft hands and to be ridden from seat and legs, so seems tricky and fussy but once you have the hang of it shes easy peasy
hacking she is lovely if a little sharp on her own,
jumping is her fav and shes easier to ride with jumps about as she creates her own impulsion but never runs or pulls.
I find Shadow really easy to ride but then I have been riding her for four years! Sometimes I take for granted how easy she is, she's generally very responsive and well behaved. She isn't a push-button ride though and I wouldn't put a complete novice on her.
I put 8 for walk and trot because she's pretty straight forward. I put 5 for cantering as canter is her weakest pace as far as flatwork/dressage is concerned, she rushes a lot and can get on the forehand. I also put 5 for jumping as she can be strong but you still have to ride her positively into fences. For hacking I put 8, she's very good on the roads and in traffic but sometimes she sppoks at silly things like plastic bags or road markings, she is quite good off the roads but she's sometimes strong cantering out hacking especially with other horses, and occasionally she throws in a few bucks.
I put two for jumping because unless you are very tough and go "Bl**dy do it!" then she will run out/refuse and take all your confidence. 5 for hacking, she is good but has an occasional buck/rear and is a bit spooky on her own.
I would have classed it as hacking, schooling, hunting etc as each pace is different, eg a canter out hacking is very different to a canter out hunting!
Well, my 13yo WB is not an easy ride. He is fairly safe but is just not very easy to get going well. He also bucks!
My 4yo so far is so easy for his age and level of training, cant comment on hacking or jumping as we havent got that far yet!, ask me next week!!!
Depends on if its me riding or someone else! My yard mates daughter was desperate to jump May, so I popped her round a small course, let F get on - she could'nt handle her at all, took one jump at gallop, could'nt stop. I got back on and she halt to cantered back to halt as asked and popped everything in a lovely rhytham.
