Converting a fixed knee block saddle to moveable/velcro block

Has anyone successfully converted a fixed knee block saddle to a moveable block, ie blocks on velcro?

I have a working hunter saddle with a small fixed knee block under the flap. I would like a bigger knee block so I was wondering whether a decent saddler could remove the fixed block and somehow attach an area of velcro in its place so that I could then use appropriately sized velcro-on blocks wherever I want them.

Has anyone ever done this?
