Hi, has anyone heard of or know anything about either of these horses, mine is an ISH, so I would imagine the parents, "Convinced" and "Gypsy Rebel" are both ISH too, any info very gratefully received.
Young convinced is a TB stallion....come's up a lot as a dams sire. maybe that's who your looking for?
I dont no any Gypsy rebel but some stallions with part of that name are
Rich rebel (Tb)
Huntington rebel (RID)
and Murphys rebel (connemara)
ISH can have intreasting ancestery so theres no gaurantee your names arent correct. There's around 450 stallions standing over here with some sort of grading on them.
Your lads ancestors might just not be well recorded.
Record's are notoriously bad
Thank you very much for the info, I'd love to be able to find out more about his sire, but this is a step in the right direction, and Young Convinced sounds a nice type.
He is registered ISH so I am hoping something will come up
Young Convinced was sold during the dispersal sale of his late owner, Philip Heenan, in 2003. Was bought by Martin O'Toole so your horse was probably bred quite local to either location, i.e Co Tipperary or Galway/Mayo border.
As for the damsire, could be a number of possibilities - Rich Rebel stood in Tipperary so a possibility; Gypsy Duke is another 'suspect', again depending on the horse's age, Huntingfield Rebel might be a possibility but only moved to the West in past 2 years .. or it might be none of the above.
Thanks very much for your response, he is 10, foaled 1999 so turns 11 next year. He has an Irish Horse Register passport with a number. So he is a half brother of Young Convinced, is that correct?
I have heard a lot of good things about the Sire Rich Rebel, I wonder if he was the Sire of my horse's dam. Interesting thoughts.
If his passport says he is by Convinced (TB), then theoretically no, he is not Young Convinced's half-brother - they have the same sire.
That's on this side of the Atlantic, they would be considered half-brothers Stateside.
Your horse actually has some lovely bloodlines, particularly for eventing - Convinced was by Busted, who features as Denman's great-grand-sire. That *trivia* aside, Busted was by Crepello, sire of Carnival Night - he produced David Broome's Mr Ross and was also the damsire of Leslie Law's famous Shearwater full-brothers.
Busted also went back to the Wild Risk line - he features in the pedigrees of Miners Lamp (sire of Miners Frolic) and Bassompierre (sire of Sydney Olympic gold medallist and USEA Horse of the Year, Custom Made and also the damsire of Supreme Rock).
IF, and it is an if, there is Rich Rebel on the dam's side, he's related to Luthier, sire of Over The River, who produced Gold Cup winners like Cool Ground and also, Over To You.
A little puzzled about his passport as Convinced, who stood in Northern Ireland, was not registered with the Horse Board but it appears the HB have issued a passport with breeding details.
Unless your horse is a full TB and has his passport overstamped by the IHB?
Crikey it seems very complicated, it would be nice to think he does have those good bloodlines though.
I know he was bought over from Ireland as a 4 year old and I can only remember the lady's first name, but she recognised him once at an event and said the girl she sold him to didn't do wonderfully as she just wasn't that 'effective' but she said if I get on well with him he should go quite far.
We shall see.
So he was bought by the girl before me and then came straight to me.
Does having the IHR number help, maybe I can enter that somewhere online. It says it is a 'supplementary' passport but his breed is ISH. On one page the pedigree is not recorded but it is on the second page, the one that shows all their markings etc.
