What do you feed with yours? I'm leaning towards whole soaked oats and either grass nuts or Alfalfa pellets.

For a rather poor doer (who's managing to still look pretty good so far what with this mild weather and stabled overnight with adlib hay/haylage) who's ridden 6 days a week (an hours schooling, jumping or longer hacking).

Gave him it last winter and his coat went like glass. It was amazing! Only stopped with it as he was out 24/7 and it was too large a volume to eat up in a decent time. He can now pick away at it as long as he likes as I can just go home :)

I feed alfalfa with mine because copra is high in potassium and you need extra calcium with it (it's not balanced) so I feed alfalfa.

I have been feeding with some high fibre cubes to encourage him to eat it but now he is eating it up I will reduce the high fibre cubes and just feed it on its own.

Just transitioning mine over from speedibeet to copra - they have a forage balancer (Pro Balance+ for the pony, Pro Hoof for the horse) and a bit of micronised linseed with it, that's it. If the horse starts dropping any weight (the pony definitely won't!) then I'll probably add grass nuts for him.

At the moment he's on dodson & horrell 'just grass' with micronised linseed and what's left in the bag of rolled barley and unmollased sugar beet. I'll not replace the sugar beet or barley once its used up. Mine cant have alfalfa so i have to steer clear of anything with that in. I feel its a bit sloppy to feed on its own so like to have a bit of fibre in their to chew on hence the just grass.

Cheers guys

Lipza767 I feel a bit the same, that it's a funny consistency on its own and needs something to break it up. Was worried adding soaked grass nuts would just add to the mushyness rather than giving it a bit more chew. The dried grass might b a good option then cheers.

I feed Copra alongside molasses free chaff, micronised linseed and D&H ERS Pellets (high in oil and fibre, low in starch and sugar).

I feed copra, linseed, soaked grass nuts, grass chop and pro earth balancers. Just about to introduce oats for the TB too.

So he's been on the Copra for only 6 days now (1 cup morning and 1 cup evening) and already his coat and skin has gone amazingly glossy and supple. Same thing happened last winter when I put him on it.

Went for mixing it with grass nuts and a handful of chaff (Alfa A oil) added just to give it a bit of texture. So far so good :)

I've been using cop bra for a while and use on all my horses from cob .tb and I'm giving to foals now to with handful of chaff to .but don't think there getting enough or need more but and minerals.so was wondering if fast fibre as Well as lacking condition.only had them 5weeks

Welshmad1 I've got my 17.3hh poor doer on 2.5 cups of Copra, 2 cups of grass nuts, 1 stubbs scoop conditioning mix (just finishing off the bag) and 2 handfuls of Alfa A oil split in 2 feeds with adlib hay/haylage and in over night and he's looking fantastic. When the mix is gone I'll up the grass nuts.
